Everyone has to live, and everyone has to work hard in order to live. While “working” is a great productive thing, overwork is not. Has there ever been a time when you feel like you’re like the falling petals of a dying flower because of the rigor and demands of work? Or worst, have you ever felt like you were the dying flower itself, due to the insurmountable amount of stress and seemingly bottomless work surrounding you. During times like these, I can’t help but wish for a moment or two of rest and relaxation—just a moment of silence and calm, a personal moment with myself to recollect and recuperate from the urban beating and hurly-burly.

It’s often a dilemma of sorts: sometimes it’s not possible to just drop things as doing so would be completely irresponsible and selfish, but at the same time, the feeling of cracking, breaking down and burning out is pending and unavoidable. The feeling is all too familiar. Whenever these times knowing that I have to pause and take a break somehow, somewhere else something bad would happen. But since there’s barely any time to take a break I’ve learned to make the most of my schedule by inserting small but priceless means of distressing within my routine. My daily “me” time is my bath time at night. It has been a practice of mine ever since I started working to give myself an hour to two hours for my nightly bathing rituals. Whether I choose to shower or use the tub, or give myself a facial, it’s my official rule that I should not allow myself to be disturbed or deprived of quiet, personal space and time. I usually take long showers, but in the middle of the week, I use the tub and take a relaxing, quiet, warm, de-stressing, detoxifying and energizing bath.

Bathing has always been associated with cleansing and beautification since time in memorial, but I find that aside from cleansing and beautification, it’s such a personal and luxurious experience especially so if we use aromatic bath salts during bath time. The special thing about aromatic bath salts is that aside from cleansing and beautifying, it relaxes your mind and body and somehow it repairs and prepares you for yet another challenge in the daily gruel of work for the days to come. . It’s a therapy that you can afford to give yourself. Bath salts by themselves are priceless additions to your bathing ritual. They’re small and seemingly unimportant, but they provide you with aesthetic and health benefits such as exfoliation, sore-muscle relief and better blood circulation. If you add essential aromatic oils to that, then it’s a complete sensory experience: the oils will help you relax better and quicker, thus ridding you of the accumulated stress, aches and pains. Believe me, I sleep like a baby after every time I have an Aromatic Salt Bath. And when I wake up the next day, I feel better and ready: I only have 3 words to say to the work load I know I’m bound to face: Bring it On!
